We are delighted to announce that Ayana Journeys has become the first Cambodian tour operator to be recognised by the prestigious Ethical Travel Guide by Tourism Concern.
The purpose of the Ethical Travel Guide to the World is to help travellers in making better decisions about where to go, who to go with, where to stay and what to do in accordance with principles of ethical tourism. For each country listed ethical travel considerations, local projects to support, community voices on the impacts of tourism, ethical places to stay and see and ethical tour operators and volunteering organisations that can help make guests’ stay better for local people and better for guests. The initiative intertwines two essential strands of how Tourism Concern works:
- seek to give a voice to communities where tourism takes place, sharing their concerns and recommendations in order to encourage more equitable and sustainable tourism
- aim to help travellers to take responsibility for their impact by choosing ethical options for what to do and where to stay, and being responsible, sensitive and well-informed whilst travelling
Tourism Concern, the UK based advocacy charity working to create action for equitable travel, reviews tourism businesses from around the world against ethical tourism indicators: community well-being, local prosperity, and environment. Businesses can receive a maximum of 15 points, and we’re pleased to have been acknowledged for 11 – and are working to improve this!
Customers booking through the Ethical Travel Guide will receive a 10% discount from Ayana Journeys. Review our online profile here.
